Naturopath physician (relocate to the island of Bermuda)
The Naturopathic Physician position at Northshore Medical & Aesthetics Center in Devonshire, Bermuda must be able to diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases using a system of practice that is based on the natural healing capacity of individuals. Be competent in the use of physiological, psychological, or mechanical methods. Additionally, use natural medicines, prescription or legend drugs, foods, herbs, or other natural remedies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document patients’ histories, including identifying data, chief complaints, illnesses, previous medical or family histories, or psychosocial characteristics.
- Administer, dispense, or prescribe natural medicines, such as food or botanical extracts, herbs, dietary supplements, vitamins, nutraceuticals, and amino acids.
- Advise patients about therapeutic exercise and nutritional medicine regimens.
- Conduct physical examinations and physiological function tests for diagnostic purposes.
- Diagnose health conditions, based on patients’ symptoms and health histories, laboratory and diagnostic radiology test results, or other physiological measurements, such as electrocardiograms and electroencephalographs.
- Educate patients about health care management.
- Administer treatments or therapies, such as homeopathy, hydrotherapy, using physical agents including air, heat, cold, water, sound, or ultraviolet light to catalyze the body to heal itself.
- Administer, dispense, or prescribe natural medicines such as food or botanical extracts, herbs, dietary supplements, vitamins, nutraceuticals, and amino acids.
- Conduct physical examinations and physiological function tests for diagnostic purposes.
- Treat minor cuts, abrasions, or contusions.
- Prescribe synthetic drugs under the supervision of medical doctors or within the allowances of regulatory bodies.
- Ability to conduct nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring and evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A university degree in pre-medical science, required.
- Completion of a university program in naturopathic medicine, obtained abroad or A four-year program in naturopathic medicine from a private institute, required.
- Be a qualified Dietitian (able to become registered), strongly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition support services.
- Current certification BLS or ACLS
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and knowledge of clinical databases
- Excellent counselling skills and ability to relate to a multi-ethnic community and varied learning levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships with multidisciplinary team and support services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate orally with patients, doctors, nurses, and others is crucial. Regular use of the telephone is important. Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
Heavy lifting is not expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office and medical equipment such as computer terminals.
Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of medical and emergency problems. Able to apply math skills and other analytics as required. Able to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses. Able to understand and utilize management reports, medical charts and other documents to conduct business.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed indoors in a traditional medical office or hospital setting. Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions, as well as loud noises, unpleasant odors, and liquids may occur. Protective (safety) equipment, including appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves, goggles, and face mask, is required at times. Activities include extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting and extensive work with measuring devices and medical machinery.
