Dr. Nick De Groot, ND, has served as the dean of CCNM since 2008. Nick is responsible for the College’s curriculum and for ensuring that the teaching clinics at CCNM meet the highest standards of clinical education and patient care.

Dr. Jonathan Prousky, ND
Dr. Jonathan Prousky, ND, graduated from Bastyr University with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. At CCNM - Toronto, Dr. Prousky’s primary responsibility is the delivery of safe and effective naturopathic medical care in his role as the chief naturopathic medical officer. He also coordinates the grand rounds program and supervises in the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic.

Dr. Mitchell Zeifman, ND
Dr. Mitchell Zeifman, B.Sc., ND, has been practicing as a naturopathic doctor since graduating from CCNM in 2003 and is currently associate dean of clinical education. Mitchell oversees the clinical program, which is when the knowledge, skills and attitudes built during the first three years of the naturopathic medicine program, is applied to patient care.

Dr. Jasmine Carino, ND (Class of 1998)
Dr. Jasmine Carino, ND, graduated from CCNM in 1998 and was one of the first NDs accepted into the two-year residency program. As the associate dean, curriculum and residency program, Jasmine designs strategies for curriculum change, oversees the residency program and helps ensure delivery of high-quality continuing education.

Dr. Jonathan Tokiwa, BScN, RN, ND, MEd Specialist (Class of 2005)
Dr. Jonathan Tokiwa, ND, completed his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Toronto and graduated with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Furthermore, he pursed graduate studies focusing upon education and completed his Master of Education Specialist degree in adult, community, and higher education from the University of Calgary. Prior to starting a career in naturopathic medicine, his previous clinical experience includes emergency medicine and paramedical services.

Dr. David Scotten, ND, MEd
Dr. Scotten completed his undergrad in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University and then graduated as an ND from Bastyr University in 1992. More recently, he completed his Master of Education at Royal Roads. Dr. Scotten is responsible for curriculum development and implementation. He has dedicated his time and skills to the Institute since its inception.
“I have spent over 20 years developing, teaching, revamping, and evaluating naturopathic medical curricula. I am finally at a point in my career where I know we are creating a new curriculum that takes advantage of the current research on applied cognitive learning, technological advances, and instructional design that combine to facilitate a student’s acquisition of knowledge and skills with more relevance and at a higher quality.”

Dr. Karrin Fairman-Young, ND
Dr. Karrin Fairman-Young (Dr. KFY) is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Associate Dean of Clinical Studies (ADCS) for the CCNM - Boucher Campus and its teaching clinics. She is a 2004 graduate of CCNM - Toronto Campus and has been working in the teaching clinic at the Boucher Campus since 2008. Dr. KFY supervises third and fourth-year clinicians, offering insight into patient care and empowering patients to reach their health potential. Dr. KFY oversees the clinical education program, assuring intern competency standards, delivering quality patient care, and achieving and maintaining accreditation standards. In her role as CMO, she works to align clinical faculty goals with those of the CCNM - Boucher Campus clinics and ensures compliance with all quality, legal, and regulatory requirements for the health and safety of the patients, faculty and staff of the CCNM - Boucher Campus.

I enjoy the opportunity to learn with students when we encounter difficult cases in the clinic or something new we have only read about. As their knowledge and skill set grows, it is very satisfying to see their confidence and capabilities improve as they work with and aid our patients in the clinic. I continue to follow the careers of former students when possible and I am happy to hear of their success as they continue the long tradition of naturopathic medical care.

Dr. Rochelle Heisel, PhD
Dr. Rochelle Heisel, Ph.D., graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Doctorate from the Department of Medicine. She has been teaching at the Boucher campus since its inception and has been the Associate Dean of Academics at this campus since 2006. In her role she works to help ensure the continued delivery of a high-quality Academic program.

Reid Wildeman, MEd.
Reid has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Simon Fraser University and was most recently Director of Education for a private college in Vancouver. Reid has extensive experience in program evaluation, curricular design, and instructional supervision. Reid taught at the high school level for ten years and was a summer school Principal and Vice Principal for the final three. He has worked with a broad spectrum of learners, including at-risk students, international college students, mature learners and more.
